The instrument performed in this piece exists in both the real and virtual worlds. A sculpture of wood and doorstops is activated by hand, creating motion and sound. These phenomena are detected and input to a computer program, causing light to be projected onto the sculpture, and clips of sound to be triggered, fluttering along with the sound of the doorstop. It is a musical instrument, a virtual instrument, a kinetic sculpture, and a projection sculpture all wrapped into one.
Performance of projected light, sound, and sculpture, 4’x2’x6” wood and brass doorstops
Created with Max/MSP/Jitter
